GOOD, a content provider for the non-profit community, has announced that it has acquired Jumo, the social network aimed at non-profit organisations.
The community of 15,000 global organisations, including almost 70 based in the UK, will be integrated into GOOD’s website and Jumo founder Chris Hughes will join GOOD as a senior advisor.
GOOD CEO and co-founder Ben Goldhirsh said: “With the acquisition of of Jumo, we rapidly upscale our ability to deliver both the connective tissue to unite this community, and the tools to enable this community to most effectively drive impact.”
Hughes said: “We have the opportunity to create a content and engagement platform unparalleled in the sector.”
Jumo was launched at the end of last year by Hughes, who was one of the co-founders of Facebook, as a global social network for charities, although only US non-profit organisations can receive donations through the platform.
Organisations create a profile page and can add ways people can get involved with the charity. UK charities with pages includ Unicef, the Woodland Trust and Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Users can sign in using their Facebook account to register their support of a cause and post comments on the charities page.
GOOD is a US-based content provider which says it has a mission of “powering what works” though its website and magazine and by helping companies improve their social impact.
