Homelessness charities Crisis and St Mungo’s have entered into a strategic alliance to co-ordinate their services and campaigns.
The two organisations have increasingly worked together over the past two years, and the new agreement signals their intention to continue to do so.
Areas for collaboration in campaigning will include pressing the government to fulfil its commitment to end rough sleeping by 2012 and making the case for increased and continued funding for specialist homelessness services.
In terms of services, the two organisations will coordinate the provision of emergency accommodation during severe weather and build links between services to support clients and increase volunteering opportunities.
St Mungo's CEO Charles Fraser (pictured) said: "Both Crisis and St Mungo's are financially strong and confident in their separate futures but believe this kind of working partnership will result in even better services for homeless people.
“We can each learn from each other, and the yardstick will be improving services for homeless people. We share fundamental values with Crisis, and look forward to working with them closely and strongly in the future."
