CSV has appointed Sir Jon Shortridge as its new chairman.

Shortridge (pictured), who will take over the role from John Pulford after 34 years of service, will be appointed with an agreed maximum tenure of 10 years. He was elected with an unanimous vote by CSV’s council.

Regarding his appointment, Shortridge said: “I'm looking forward to chairing CSV through challenging times ahead, when people will be expecting more for less and when 11 million people tell researchers that they would volunteer if only they were asked.”

Shortridge comes to the role with an extensive background in the public servant sector, including nine years as parliament secretary for Wales.

Executive director of CSV, Dame Elisabeth Hoodless, feels that Shortridge will be able to offer the company new and exciting ways to engage the public in volunteering:

“CSV is very excited by the prospect of a chairman bringing new ideas, skills and approaches to the organization’s work to involve citizens of all ages in volunteering and training nationwide,” said Hoodless.

Pulford will take up an honorary role as vice president to recognize his 34 years of service.
