Charity Trustee Networks (CTN) and the Nationwide Foundation are joining forces to provide governance support to eight charities which have received grants of around £300,000 from the Nationwide Foundation through its Investor Programme.
The charities will be funded to join CTN which provides support, peer networking opportunities, monthly e-newsletters and online information resources.
The Foundation will also provide the charities with trustee training, facilitated strategic review meetings and bespoke consultancy as needed.
A Nationwide Foundation spokeswoman said: "This is to help build the robustness and infrastructures of the charities funded and to achieve impacts which are greater than those which would be achieved with just a grant."
"The partnership will help to achieve the Nationwide Foundation’s strategic aim to build the resilience of the charities it funds."
Rodney Buse (pictured), chairman of CTN, said: “Charity Trustee Networks is delighted to be working with the Nationwide Foundation. Trustees have a high level of responsibility and must also keep themselves fully informed about the work and running of their charities. We recognise the effort needed to give this level of commitment and aim to provide support to ensure trustees work efficiently and effectively.”
The following charities will receive support –
• Age Concern Camden
• Age Concern Wirral
• Centre for Policy on Ageing
• Centre for Sustainable Energy
• The Haven
• Money advice plus (MAP)
• Runnymede Trust
• Thanet Citizens’ Advice Bureau
