Minister backs trustee codes of conduct guidance

Minister for the third sector Kevin Brennan is supporting new guidance on codes of conduct for charity trustees published by the Charity Trustee Networks.

Brennan, who launched Codes of Conduct for Trustees at a parliamentary reception today, said the guidance would offer practical help to trustee boards in strengthening their governance arrangements.

The booklet was written following a series of workshops and events with trustees, a web-based survey, and interviews with a range of consultants, experts and trustees.

It includes advice on how to develop and use codes of conduct in an organisation, signposts other resources and has case studies demonstrating how other charities have used codes of conduct.

It can be downloaded free from www.trusteenet.org.uk.
