The Pagan Federation has withdrawn its Charity Tribunal appeal against the Charity Commission’s decision not to grant it charitable status.
Last year, the Charity Commission denied the Pagan Federation charitable status as the basis of its beliefs were too loosely defined to constitute a religion, as understood in charity law.
The Pagan Federation decided to appeal the decision to the Charity Tribunal, but has now withdrawn its application after further discussions with the Charity Commission.
Belinda Winder, vice-president of the Pagan Federation, told civilsociety.co.uk that it is currently in informal talks with the Charity Commission on how it will go forward: “We may develop a charitable arm which is for the benefit of education.”
The Pagan Federation had originally applied for charitable status on the grounds of religion.
