Former footballer-turned-film star Vinnie Jones has used his hard man image to show support for the British Heart Foundation in its latest television advert to promote 'hands-only CPR'.
Jones' endorsement finds him showing how 'hard and fast hands-only CPR' can save the life of someone who has had a cardiac arrest. The campaign is aimed at reducing the potential for the public to avoid giving CPR because of the perceived need to breath for the victim using 'mouth-to-mouth'.
"Let me teach you a lesson you'll never forget", Jones entices before showing the correct method to keep the heart pumping druing the advertisement, to the tune of the BeeGees' Staying Alive.
The film is part of a dedicated Hands-only CPR campaign page in the BHF website, containing FAQs responded to by Jones himself, a blog about the campaign and stories of people saved by the technique. It includes merchandise and a download link to buy the Bee Gees hit, with a donation being made through Fairshare Music to the campaign. The campaign has also launched a petition to get emergency life-saving skills taught in classrooms.
