Beryl Hobson

Chair, National Childbirth Trust (NCT) from August 2013

Hobson is the chief executive at Professional Governance Services Ltd, a post she took in 2012 and chair at the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) starting from August 2013. She is also Chair of the Queen Victoria NHS Foundation Trust in East Grinstead.

She has worked at board level in three sectors – as a executive director in the insurance industry, non-executive chair of a primary care trust and a hospital foundation trust in the  NHS, and as a trustee and chair in the voluntary sector. She has been a trustee of several charities and was previously Vice-Chair of Womankind Worldwide.

She has a particular interest in how boards work and how their performance can affect the impact of their organisation. In a previous role as head of the large charities division at the Charity Commission, she worked with the boards of many high profile charities to improve governance.
