The National Trust partnered with Aardman to create this Wallace and Gromit short animation, made to highlight the Trust’s Jubilee events.
Over the long weekend the charity held more than 70 tea parties in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at its properties where the film was premiered.
In the film, Jubilee Bunt-a-thon viewers see plasticine characters Wallace and Gromit preparing for their own tea party and directing people to the National Trust's website where they can find out more about other Summer of Celebration activities. The charity is offering the chance to win a tour to Aardman studios as well as a day with a park ranger at Tyntesfield estate by answering a question on the website about the film.
Tony Berry, visitor experience director of the National Trust said: “The National Trust and Wallace and Gromit are two of Britian’s greatest treasures and we felt it fitting that in this summer of celebration we should bring them together.”
Aardman also made a behind the scenes documentary explaining how the film was made (below) and the National Trust is selling a range of Wallace and Gromit themed products in its online shop.
The animation took three months to complete, with 30 people working on it, and using 30 kilograms of plasticine.
Nick Park, creator of Wallace and Gromit said: “At Aardman we are thrilled that Wallace and Gromit have had a chance to explore all the Trust has to offer – from helping to put up bunting to enjoying their Wensleydale cheese platter at a picnic. Wallace and Gromit are in for a cracking summer at the National Trust.”
