Leading advice services are being forced to cut back on face-to-face support and place more emphasis on digital and telephone services, a roundtable discussion of advice charity leaders revealed yesterday.
Gallery projects ranging from Inuit art to 1800s wallpaper have been awarded grants as part of a scheme run by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The Collecting Cultures programme run by the HLF has distributed grants of between £50,000 to £200,000 to 22 different museums and galleries to help develop their collections, curatorial skills and boost community involvement.

The Grosvenor House Art and Antiques Fair's charity event has raised £1m for the British Red Cross. Nearly two thirds of people exaggerate when surveyed about their giving habits, according to Bristol Business School. A recent survey by the school found that just 11.8 per cent of respondents could accurately recount how much they had donated in the past year, while 65.3 per cent reported being more generous than they actually were.
The Big Lottery Fund has awarded its 1,000th Reaching Communities grant but the fund remains eight times over-subscribed four years after its inception. The Easington Colliery Regeneration Partnership’s People and their Parks project in County Durham (pictured) was awarded just over £138,000, one of 24 projects to receive a share of £4.7m in funding in the latest round of the sought-after BIG grants last week.
