International development and health charities have again won a number of the lucrative national newspaper Christmas appeal partnerships this year.
The Financial Times, which last year raised £4.3m for its charity partner, has this year selected Action Against Hunger for its seasonal appeal.
A few newspapers had multiple charity partners, typically picking at least one development and medical charity. The Times has announced Merlin, the Spinal Injuries Association and volunteering charity CSV. CSV won this year's overall award at the Charity Awards and the winning project, Volunteers in Child Protection, was profiled in The Times shortly afterward.
The Telegraph too has selected three charities, Zimbabwean development charity ZANE, Cancer Research UK and Dogs for the Disabled for its appeal, which last year raised over half a million pounds.
Offering extensive editorial coverage, access to millions of readers and the opportunity to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds, charities each year battle it out to win one of the lucrative, high profile partnerships.
