The National Trust has launched a virtual gift catalogue, its first foray into this kind of scheme, in an effort to get members donating in the lead-up to Christmas.
The catalogue, which will be sent in hard copy to the Trust’s 700,000 members alongside an online marketing push, features a range of gift types and values, from £10 to ‘save the red squirrel’ to £2,000 for a bat habitat.
The National Trust is hoping that 7,000 of those members will respond to the offer and aims to raise £75,000 from the virtual gifts.
A spokeswoman for the Trust said that all the money donated will go specifically towards the gift bought, so all the money raised by the £10 ‘save the red squirrel’ offering will go to the saving of red squirrels.
