The Big Give launches corporate voucher scheme

Fundraising | Becky Slack | 17 Sep 2008

Corporates looking to give money to charity can now opt to do so via a new voucher scheme launched by The Big Give today.

Companies can buy Big Give charity vouchers for a minimum of £10. These vouchers can then be redeemed on any of the 3,933 charity projects currently listed on www.thebiggive.org.uk

The scheme has been launched as a means of providing additional income to the registered charities. The website’s operators hope it will be used within corporate CSR initiatives or to replace conventional client gifts.

“Many corporate foundations and CSR departments complain of the many ‘ask’ letters that they receive which are often a waste of theirs and fundraisers’ time and money,” said Jon Brooks, managing director.

“We have heard back from CSR managers who have successfully identified projects on The Big Give and are looking for new ways to develop their corporate responsibility initiatives. A huge bonus of the vouchers is that it will be an extra opportunity for charities to gain as they can be used as an alternative to client gifts, which would usually benefit the likes of Interflora or John Lewis etc.”

To mark the launch of the scheme, which will be available for all companies to use after 1 September, 10,000 UK businesses are to be given a £25 voucher.

“I hope my initial giveaway will lead to millions of pounds reaching charities through corporate donations on The Big Give,” said Alec Reed, founder and chair of The Big Give (pictured).
