The Disasters Emergency Committee Pakistan Flood appeal has now raised £10.5m, a week after the appeal was launched.
The fundraising tally update comes as the DEC warns today that 6 million Pakistani children are at risk, and that with floods predicted for the south of the country, malaria could become a serious public health problem.
On announcing the £10.5m, which is up by £1m on yesterday's total, Brendan Gormley, DEC chief executive, said "We are extremely grateful for the very generous response of the UK public to the flooding in Pakistan.”
The public are being urged to donate £5 via text message, by texting the word GIVE to 70707.
The total continues to increase slowly. In the week after the DEC Haiti earthquake appeal was launched, £42m had been raised for the relief effort.
