Public to vote for favourite Lottery-funded charity project

The public has a chance to select their favourite lottery-funded project after the three finalists in the voluntary and charity projects category of the National Lottery Awards were announced yesterday.

Voting began at 9am yesterday after the National Lottery released the list of finalists in the awards scheme designed to celebrate the good work achieved by lottery funding and its recipients.

The three charities which have made it to the finals within their category in the National 2010 awards are: Blaenau Gwent Domestic Abuse Services in South Wales, a domestic abuse support charity which used its funding to employ more staff; Brighton and Hove Neighbourhood Care Scheme, a volunteer-led organisation helping older people and people with physical disabilities in daily chores (pictured); and the Little Haven’s Children’s Hospice in Thundersley, Essex, which offers relief breaks and end–of–life care for children and teenagers living with life–limiting and life threatening illnesses.

The voting process will be open until midday 13 August. To vote, the public can either go online at www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/awards or phone in.

You can see what you will be voting for in the videos below. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony broadcast on the BBC in September.
