Clic Sargent scores £3m from Wetherspoon partnership

Fundraising | Stefan Marseglia | 11 Mar 2010

Pub chain JD Wetherspoon staff across the United Kingdom have raised over £3m over the course of an eight-year partnership with Clic Sargent.

Wetherspoon has supported the children’s cancer charity since 2002, while the £3m milestone was marked this week.

“We are extremely proud of our association with Clic Sargent,” said JD Wetherspoon managing director Tim Martin (pictured right).

Martin aims to raise an additional £500,000 during 2010. Amanda Chatterton, accounts manager for Clic Sargent, meanwhile is hopeful the annual five-a-side football tournament for Wetherspoon staff will help raise £200,000 of this come September.

The London Marathon in April is another way Chatterton hopes money for the charity will be raised this year, with over 20 pub staff running the 26-mile race to raise the £250,000 target.

The eight-year partnership is set to strengthen in future, with Chatterton suggesting that the charity is currently looking at further ways to use the brand power of Wetherspoons.
