Ongoing uncertainty over telephone fundraising best practice and restrictions has prompted the Fundraising Standards Board and Institute of Fundraising to arrange a telephone fundraising symposium.
The symposium, to be held on 4 March, will feature a debate on best practice and legislation related to telephone fundraising. It follows a summit held late last year to address a fairly wide difference of opinion on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and whether charities are subject to the same restrictions as companies are with marketing calls.
The symposium will be chaired by Colin Lloyd, chair of the FRSB and TPS, and involve other experts who will offer advice.
Lloyd said that telephone fundraising has become far more sophisticated over recent years and that the sector now needed clarity on legal issues in order to move forward. “It is clear that varying interpretations remain within the fundraising community as to how the guidance should be applied in practice. We hope that this event will enable fundraisers to identify those areas where they require greater clarity and to provide the opportunity to learn from best practice in the field,” he said.

Great idea, but is organising something just 2 and a half weeks ahead sensible? I'd love to go to this but already have a meeting all day.
