Alliance offers charity-branded legal service

Fundraising | Gareth Jones | 16 Dec 2009

The Legal Alliance is offering charities a free, fully branded legal service for members and supporters, and will give a donation of “about 5 per cent” of legal fees for every time one of its solicitors carries out legal work.

Participating charities would facilitate access to the Alliance’s network of quality-assessed local law firms in over 150 locations across England and Wales by introducing them to their supporters.

The service would be fully branded with the charity’s name, logo and colours, and phone calls would be answered with the charity’s name.

Research by the Alliance has found that 60 per cent of people are unable to name a single law firm, and that more than half would purchase legal services through a non-solicitor organisation they already know or deal with.

Of the latter, almost a third said a charity would be their preferred distributor.

Jon Bostock (pictured), chief executive of the Alliance, said the findings confirm the fact that most people do not have a relationship with a law firm and would be happy to access them through other organisations.

“We have developed our business around the supply of a broad range of quality local legal services provided by our network of independent law firms through other organisations.

“We enable charities to generate revenue by introducing a legal service to their members and supporters and giving a percentage of the fees generated to the charity.”

The Alliance is currently in talks with “several” charities about creating such services. Those interested in participating should contact Norrie MacDonald on 07810 855109.
