Aspinall Foundation sets up own face-to-face company

Fundraising | Celina Ribeiro | 2 Dec 2009

Conservation charity the Aspinall Foundation has set up its own face-to-face fundraising company, with a key player from Face2Face Fundraising at its helm.

AAP Fundraising is set up as a trading arm of the charity, which is also its first client. The company will provide street, door and prospect fundraising services, with all profits going to the Aspinall Foundation. The company has already started its first campaign for the foundation.

The company says it will recruit long-term donors, and has partnered with telephone fundraising company NTT Fundraising  in order to “nurture” recruited donors.

Bob O’Connor, managing director of the Apsinall Foundation, said that he was approached with the business proposition by Gareth Moore, formerly of Face2Face and now director of AAP. “I could see the huge benefit of running our own face-to-face business. As a charity who has used direct approach fundraising ourselves for many years, we believe we are in a unique position to provide an excellent service to other charities."

Moore predicts that the sector will react “very favourably” to the ownership structure of the new company. “It is reassuring for my team and I to know that rather than enriching a private shareholder, success at AAP will enrich and protect the lives of the most endangered species on the planet,” he said.

AAP’s entry into the market marks the arrival of a second new player in just over a month after the establishment of Real Fundraising following the collapse of Dialogue Direct in the UK.
