Direct marketing agency Whitewater is in the advanced stages of negotiating a merger with an existing direct marketing services group.

The agency, whose clients include RSPCA, Arthritis Care, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The Brooke, will continue to operate as an independent entity within the direct marketing group, whose identity is still under wraps. Whitewater will retain its own office and staff, which is to be led by its current managing director Steve Andrews who will become a shareholder in the new group.

“The proposed partnership with the new group only adds to my excitement about the future. They have strengths and skills which will substantially improve our customer offering in many respects,” said Andrews.

A merger was sought following the decision by Andrews and his wife and business partner Claire that she should leave the company in order to spend more time with their children.

Whitewater has been forced to take out an advert in this issue of PF to help reassure the agency’s clients their partnerships are safe following rumours the company was up for sale. “Such gossip can be unsettling for a business so I wanted to set the record straight,” said Andrews.
