Guide Dogs weighs in to virtual giving market 0

Guide Dogs has launched its own virtual gifts website to capitalise on the pre-Christmas shopping rush.

The ‘Dog-e-gifts’ site went live last week, along with a catalogue. The charity hopes to raise £200,000 in Christmas sales as a result of the initiative which gives donors a more tangible donation option.

Guide Dogs director of fundraising Jayne George said that the virtual gifts offering allows donors more choice in how they support the charity and hopes it will attract new donors, particularly in the 16 – 45 age group.

“The hope is it will open up new and different audiences, which will bring in more revenue to help Guide Dogs further its vision.”

Guide Dogs enters what, in the last few years, has become an increasingly crowded virtual gifts market. The charity is offering a range of gifts from dinner for ten trainee guide puppies (pictured), to poo bags (£20) and puppy shower whelping kits (£200).
