In days long past, artists suffering from writers’ block would have to endure hours of procrastination, frustration and empty pages. Now, they turn to Twitter.
Or so has Gary Go, the bespectacled British musician described by Q magazine as a “one man Coldplay” (as though Chris Martin allows other people in his band).
Inspired by a heart-shaped balloon, Go was compelled to write a song. But lacking any lyrics himself, he asked his Twitter followers to supply him with words.
And now the song that was composed via the online community is relying on the online community to buy it.
Go has put the single up for sale online without a fixed price. Buyers are asked to pay only what they want to for the track with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) until August 31.
In a haiku-like post tweeted after selecting BHF as the charity to benefit, Go wrote: “Our song found a perfect home. Now play your part for the heart.”
