Whitewater signs on the dotted line

Whitewater Creative Services has merged with The Direct Marketing Group (TDMG).

The agency, whose clients include Breakthrough Breast Cancer, RSPCA and RSPB, announced the deal on 5 June that will see it join DMS and Millennium at TDMG. TDMG rebranded in April and previously known as The Millennium Group.

Whitewater will continue to operate under its name and Steve Andrews will retain his role of managing director.

There will be no redundancies with Andrews stating that the merger is intended to enable the agency to "ramp up momentum" following a period of growth. "The Direct Marketing Group is the perfect platform for Whitewater to build on our strong services and growth," he said. "The company is a great cultural match for Whitewater.

In addition to the Whitewater merger, Leeds-based direct marketing agency JDA has also joined TDMG. JDA, which works with commercial clients, will also continue to operate under its own name.

A combined turnover of £45m is now expected, while staff numbers have reached 300.

Former Next chairman, David Jones, has been appointed as chair at TMDG. He is to seek additional acquisitions while at the same time prepare TDMG for its 2008 AIM stock market listing.
