The Mr. Men and Little Misses are going digital, thanks to a series of new podcasts in aid of the Variety Club.
Eight stories read by celebrities have been placed on charity's website to raise money for disadvantaged children. Among those celebrities spending time in the recording studio were Joanna Lumley, who read Little Miss Sunshine, Tony Robinson, who read Mr Tickle and Wendy Richard OBE who brought to life Little Miss Splendid.
The Variety Club will receive all revenue from the podcasts, which cost £1.50 each or £5 for the full set. The initiative has built on an existing relationship between the charity and the Mr. Men franchise, which began in July 2006 for the Variety Club's Gold Heart appeal.
Russ Kane, chief barker at the Variety Club, said he was excited to be involved with the project. "We believe it's the first time a charity has ever used podcasts as a fundraising mechanism. The internet is an incredible source of information and communication, and these podcasts are a great new way to help raise money for underprivileged children through a multimedia experience you can share with your family at home - time and time again."
You can listen to the podcasts yourself at www.varietyclub.org.uk/mrmen
