Fundraisers urged to become trustees

The Governance Hub is calling on more people with fundraising experience to become trustees as part of a new recruitment campaign.

Get On Board, which launches to the public in January, aims to inspire more people from a variety of backgrounds to consider becoming trustees.

A Governance Hub survey in June highlighted that 41 per cent of trustees require additional skills and knowledge of fundraising, while new research has found that 93 per cent of boards have between one and five vacancies.

Bridget Gardiner, director of fundraising and marketing at Richard House Children's Hospice and a trustee at the Directory of Social Change (pictured) said: "Clearly having somebody on a board of trustees with a fundraising background can only be of advantage to a charity that needs to raise funds."

Jolanta Lasota, head of the Governance Hub said: "The experience of being a board member may also offer fundraisers the opportunity to broaden their own skills and experience."
