Four out of five directors of fundraising at the UK's biggest charities have identified major donor fundraising as one of the biggest areas of opportunity this year, according to Fundraising magazine’s 2013 Directors of Fundraising Survey.
The survey, which reviews those leading the fundraising teams at the UK’s largest charities and their current priorities and thoughts, found major donor fundraising and online fundraising were considered the biggest growth areas.
On demographics, the survey found that there were fewer female directors of fundraising compared with two years ago. Only 42 per cent of directors are female at the largest 100 charities by fundraising income compared with 49 per cent two years ago.
The survey also found discrepancies in pay for male and female directors. From a sample of 40 directors of fundraising in Fundraising's list the average salary was £85,844. Men on average earn £87,786, while women earn around £5,000 less at £82,647.
