A winning lottery ticket holder has until 11pm tonight to claim a £63.8m EuroMillions jackpot, or the money goes to good causes.
A campaign to find the winner of the 8 June 2012 draw has thusfar proven unsuccessful and the deadline for claiming is approaching fast. If unclaimed at 11pm tonight the full £63,837,543.60, plus the interest accrued, will go into the Lottery good causes pot for distribution through its various good causes distributors.
The winning ticket was bought in the Stevenage and Hitchin area north of London. A campaign including posters in all local shops, a towncrier in a promotional lamborghini, social media and newspaper coverage has failed to pull the winner out of the woodwork.
A spokesperson for the National Lottery said: "If you play EuroMillions and think you could have the winning ticket, check in the pockets of your clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa – you could literally be sitting on a fortune!"
£29bn has been raised through the sale of lottery tickets since the launch of the National Lottery in 1994.
