Mike Parker is to leave the NSPCC at the end of this month, after being appointed interim director of fundraising in March.
Parker was appointed to the post earlier this year following months during which the position, responsible for raising just shy of £150m a year, was vacant. Paul Amadi, now director of fundraising at Diabetes UK, oversaw the NSPCC’s fundraising department for just under two years, leaving the organisation in December 2011.
The charity’s previous director of fundraising, Giles Pegram, had been in post for two decades, but recent years have seen the fundraising giant in some level of tumult, with
redundancies within fundraising and communications and income levels falling year-on-year since 2009.
An NSPCC spokeswoman said: “The NSPCC is to appoint a permanent director of fundraising and Mike Parker, the interim director, will be leaving the society at the end of September. The appointment process has begun and the NSPCC chief executive will lead the fundraising senior management team until a new director arrives.
“When the Society decided to appoint a permanent director of fundraising Mike did not put himself forward for the role.”
Speaking to Fundraising magazine in June, Parker said he was committed to growing the charity's donor base, and hoped to put in place changes which would see NSPCC's income rise in the next 12 to 18 months.
