Cancer Research UK is planning to launch ‘Frocktober’, a community fundraising campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month that will mimic Movember, the annual month-long moustache-growing fundraiser for male cancers.
The charity is inviting its supporters to ‘Frock breast cancer’ by dressing up in their most glamorous outfits during October and donating £5.
It says Frocktober is about “dressing your best for a good cause” and urges people to “dress to kill breast cancer”.
Fundraising packs have been designed to look like handbags and will be mailed to supporters keen to organise their own Frocktober events. These will be accompanied by activity on Facebook and Twitter, at the #frockbreastcancer hashtag.
Frocktober has been running in Australia for a few years already, and last year participants helped to raise over A$112,000 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
The campaign was adapted for the UK by the Good Agency, which has previously worked on CRUK’s Shine event and this year’s Race for Life.

Gaypril - I like that. How useful it would be to ask people to become gay/lesbian for a month - it could solve homophobic hate crime forever!
