Alan Gosschalk has been appointed director of fundraising at Scope following a two-month stint as interim director of fundraising at the charity.
Gosschalk, formerly director of fundraising at RNID and Shelter, has been more recently taking on interim roles including acting chair of the Institute of Fundraising until earlier this month.
He joins an organisation which has had a steady income of around £100m a year for the past five financial years of which voluntary income contributed £14.21m last financial year.
“There is massive potential for growth in Scope's voluntary income in all areas, which was one of the many attractions of the job,” said Gosschalk. “We will be investing more in attracting more individual supporters through door-to-door and any other methods we can get to work; our major donor fundraising can go from strength to strength having won two Institute of Fundraising awards recently; events continue to grow; and we are investing in corporate fundraising as companies increasingly recognise the importance of supporting disabled people and their charities.”
Gosschalk will lead a team of 40 fundraisers at Scope.
Earlier this month he Gosschalk became the first fundraiser to put himself forward as an advocate for face-to-face fundraising, a role created by – but separate from – the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association to offer the media independent spokespeople on the subject.
