Michie is director of development at fundraising agency Relationship Marketing, where he focuses on stewardship. A strong advocate of face-to-face fundraising, he has persistently stressed its importance throughout his career. In 1999, whilst a fundraiser at AICR, he introduced the scheme and consequently saw significant growth.
A former fundraiser for the Association for International Cancer Research, he went on to work as international development director at Fundraising Initiatives.
In 2008, he became the UK national ambassador for the International Fundraising Congress (IFC). Michie is also a member of the executive committee of the Institute of Fundraising (Scotland). .
In Professional Fundraising’s poll 2009, Michie was voted by readers to be the 21st most influential person in fundraising.
