Fundraising | Lucy Harvey | 9 Feb 2009

So, now February is well under way, how are those New Year’s resolutions going?!

At PF we vowed to be more interactive, and our activities on Twitter, Facebook, and our photo competition on Flickr are proof of our efforts.

And personally, I vowed to be more active - so I signed up to run the Bupa 10k run in May as has my colleague, Celina.

We have been in the gym training, and as soon as the weather becomes bearable plan to hit the roads.

Predictions are that runs and challenge events will become more popular during a recession as people are keen to do something that makes them feel better and fitter after cancelling the gym subscription. Have you got any figures to back that up yet?

And how are you making the most of your runners or riders?

The experiences I have had so far range from impressive to very poor, and I have been very surprised and quite disappointed by the opportunities some are wasting. I will be reporting on this in coming weeks, but if you have any comments or anecdotes you would like to tell me please post them here or contact me directly at lucy@professionalfundraising.co.uk.

Hey Lucy,

Will check with my events department in due course to see if we have had an uplift in enquirers, but there is a lot of speculation around about how the economic climate will affect fundraising. As for making the most of your opportunities, aren't you missing a trick? I assume you are running in aid of a charity, so where is your plug? Where is your link to a justgiving/bemycharity web page?

Mike
