The Big Lottery Fund is predicting that it will have less money to distribute this  year, according to its annual report and accounts.

BIG’s annual documents covering the year to March 2017, released yesterday, show that it is predicting it will have £637m of Lottery income to distribute.

In the last year BIG made almost 14,000 grants worth £717m.

Lottery income in the last year fell 15 per cent, from £769m to £652m, in line with figures already released by the National Lottery Distribution Fund and Lottery operator Camelot, which showed steep falls in income.

BIG makes commitments to fund charities several years in advance. It has so far committed to spend £1.36bn, compared to £399m held in the National Lottery Distribution Fund.
