Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
The Big Lottery Fund would be prepared to talk with the government about releasing statutory data which charities could use to compare, measure and price their impact, says Ceri Doyle, director of strategy, performance and learning at the Big Lottery Fund (BIG).
Doyle was speaking at the Social Impact Bond conference this month, where a delegate from a community interest company complained it was very difficult to access statutory data to measure its impact and put a price on it.
In response, Doyle said BIG would be happy to open a debate with government about it with other partners:
“It’s a brilliant point,” she said. “And something we should collaborate on. If the government is serious about measurement and impact they need to provide data which charities can use to benchmark.
"We would be happy, with partners, to knock on the door of government about it."
