Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
Bank of America has issued a final call for London applications for the Neighbourhood Builders and Local Heroes categories of its Neighbourhood Excellence Initiative (NEI). The award will see two charitable organisations receive £110,000 of unrestricted grant funding over two years and five 'Local Heroes' will receive £3000 each to donate to a charity of their choosing.
The awards are part of Bank of America's ten-year non-profit funding initiative which aims to donate US$2billion to non-profits "engaged in improving the health and vitality of their neighbourhoods".
Jonathan Moulds, president of Europe at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, said: "It is especially important in today's challenging financial environment that communities receive the necessary funding to build culturally rich, safe and stimulating local environments for all to enjoy. To this end, NEI has a wide remit supporting both charitable organisations and individuals who work for the good of their local community."
Applications are due by 1 June 2010 and must be submitted online at www.bankofamerica.com/neighborhoodexcellence
