Carl Allen, chair of Local Compact Voice and Compact Users Group, has threatened to make a formal complaint about Compact Voice to the Office of the Third Sector.
Allen (pictured), who has been chair of Local Compact Voice for the past year, sent an email to all Compact Voice board members yesterday attaching a complaint about the behaviour of the chair of Compact Voice, Simon Blake and the head of the Compact Team, Oliver Reichardt.
In the complaint, Allen says Blake demanded, in front of staff, that Local Compact Voice step down from the Compact Voice board.
Blake is also accused of ignoring a board decision to review the effectiveness of the Compact Users Group (CUG) and introducing amendments to the new draft constitution of Compact Voice without discussions or a vote.
Allen has asked for his complaint to be added to the agenda at the next Compact Voice board meeting, but he warned in the email: “Considering that the accountable body representative and some other board members have already said in emails that the conduct as above is in order, without going through due process, then the next step appears to be a formal complaint to the Office of the Third Sector on the conduct of the accountable body and Compact Voice.
"To be plain, while internal politics should remain within the board, the letter of warning to myself from a staff member and approved by the chair is not acceptable as it has no justification at all.”
"Additionally, members are reminded that I had asked for a few members to meet with me and Simon in order to perhaps draw a line under this matter once and for all, but that has not happened.
"Let it not be said or implied that I have not sought closure in this matter, even at this late stage."
Oliver Reichardt, head of the Compact Team at Compact Voice said: "Recent allegations made by Carl Allen will be considered by the Compact Voice board, and addressed at the next board meeting on 20 October."
