24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
The Ethical Property Company has raised 3.1m euros (£2.6m) in a private share issue in Belgium.
Its new sister company, Ethical Property Europe, will use the funding to set up a network of campaigning hubs in several European cities including Brussels, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.
Mundo-B, Ethical Property’s first European centre for environmental organisations lobbying the European Parliament, has been running since June.
The Ethical Property Company is an unlisted plc that raises money through ethical share issues to buy and run properties to house organisations that campaign for social change. It has 15 such centres in the UK.
The share issue was supported by Triodos Bank in Belgium and a full public share issue is under consideration for 2011.
