Acevo creates chief executives group on employee engagement

Finance | Vibeka Mair | 21 Jan 2009

Acevo has launched an advisory group on employee engagement for charity chief executives.

A working group of third sector chief executives has been set up by Acevo to examine and give advice on how sector leaders can engage more effectively with their employees.

The group will also examine options around engagement with umbrella bodies, unions, how to best mainstream the debate, and report back to Acevo with their recommendations later this year.

Chair of the working group, Jon Sparkes (pictured), chief executive of Scope said, “Voluntary sector chief executives need to be completely focused on supporting people at the front line of their organisations, to provide essential services and to drive change. Constantly striving to improve and develop employee engagement is essential if we are to achieve even more as a sector.

“The work of this group and the excellent report on the role of trade unions in the third sector should contribute to supporting chief executives and their teams in ensuring we achieve excellent employee engagement throughout our organisations.”

The working group comprises:

  • Jon Sparkes, chief executive of Scope
  • Susan Bickerton, chief executive of Norcare
  • Fiona Blacke, chief executive of the National Youth Agency
  • Craig Dearden-Phillips, chief executive of Speaking Up
  • Martin Kinsella, chief executive of P3
  • Mark Lever, chief executive of the National Autistic Society
  • Peter Little, chief executive of Outward Housing
  • Patrick Nash, chief executive of the Teacher Support Network
