Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
The National Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations (NCVCCO) has officially re-launched itself as Children England, at a cost of over £10,000.
The biggest membership organisation for the children, young people and families voluntary sector commissioned design and communications agency Strudel to work on the rebrand, which totalled £10,157.
The new name, which launches today, aims to increase the organisation's profile with policymakers, politicians and commissioners of children's services. It is also intended to boost membership.
Children England will be accompanied by the new strapline, Charities working for children and families, as well as a new logo and website www.childrenengland.org.uk.
Maggie Jones, chief executive of Children England, said: "Our new name is a reflection of the need to build on the forward thinking and innovative work of our members. Children England provides a fresh and more visible platform for the collective voice of the voluntary sector."
This is the second time the organisation has changed its name. It was first set up as the Constituent Societies of the National Council of Associated Children's Homes in 1943, which changed to the NCVCCO in 1965.
