Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
Career civil servant Matt Leach has been appointed as the new chief executive of Capacitybuilders.
Leach (pictured) will join the organisation early next year from the Housing Corporation where he is currently director of policy and communications. He has also worked as a senior civil servant in the Cabinet Office and Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
He replaces Simon Hebditch who left Capacitybuilders in March. As Capacitybuilders’ first chief executive, Hebditch led the organisation through its first two years of operation and the delivery of £70m of ChangeUp funds.
Leach will now lead the organisation in the management of the government’s £88.5m ChangeUp investment programme running from 2008-2011.
Leach said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to lead Capacitybuilders at this pivotal time. I am fully committed to developing stronger links to influence the environment in which support services can flourish and meet the needs of frontline organisations.”
Capacitybuilders said his exact start date was yet to be confirmed.
