Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases
24 May 2012
Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
NCVO has called for greater use of collaborative working in the voluntary sector with the publication of a new tool for managers and trustees. Should you collaborate? outlines the trustees role and underlines the importance of planning, communicating and documenting how organisations can work together.
The Collaborative Working Unit (CWU) at NCVO has also called for funders to play a key role in promoting collaborative working. Encouragingly, as CWU have acknowledged, this is already happening to an extent. A survey of funders has shown that 75 per cent recognise they have an important role to play in collaborative working and 65 per cent said they would fund collaborative working in the future.
There are several prominent examples of funders doing just this in a new report from the Children's Centre Project. The Co-operate Sector features nine case studies, including Alcohol Concern and Drugscope, and presents key learning points from each experience. Meanwhile, Lloyds TSB Foundation has also produced an impact assessment report, which analyses 18 of Lloyds TSB's Foundation grant recipients involved in collaborative working. The report is very positive in its analysis of collaborative working and produces three main models of collaboration and tries to identify what makes a successful collaborative project.
