Charities in Twitter storm over balloon releases

Charities are being urged to abandon balloon releases in a Twitter a campaign.
The Workers' Educational Association (WEA) heads up the revised Charity 250 Index members list, having moved up eight places from last year. The Charity 250 Index covers midcap charities with average total income, for the last three years, received accounts up to quarter one 2004, ranging from £7.3 million to £30.7 million..
There are thirteen changes from last year's list, five charities that have dropped out of the 100 Index, six that have grown substantially, or from which accounts have been obtained for the first time and two reentrants. Of the charities appearing for the first time the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts is the highest entrant at number 47.
