The National Training Awards has announced that the voluntary sector has the highest representation at the 2005 awards, comprising 12 per cent of finalists. The awards, which are run by UK Skills on behalf of DfES, reward training and personal development. Now in their 19th year, the awards aim to be an indicator of the UK's changing attitudes to training.
Dr Graeme Hall, CEO of UK Skills, commented: "It's incredibly encouraging to see that the number of finalists within the voluntary sector has increased over the last year by 55 per cent. Voluntary organisations really are leading by example and are continuing to inspire people to achieve excellence. The increased number of finalists from the sector is indicative of its commitment to, and prioritisation of, training."
Over 220 finalists from 25 industry sectors, across the UK, will take part in the final stages of the awards.
