New future for Guidestar

Following widespread concern over its sustainability, GuideStar UK has announced that it has 'secured further investment'. It has also confirmed that Erica Roberts, chief executive, and Jocelyn James, chief operating officer, have left to "pursue other opportunities".

GuideStar says its strategy is now focused on generating significant revenues through the provision of a range of information services including the supply of data under licence, data feeds through service level agreements, and undertaking ad hoc analyses. Les Hems, director of development and external affairs, said: "We are receiving strong interest from a range of organisations that wish to use our information platform to improve existing or develop new services and products. These include charities, businesses and government agencies. We are proud to be directly involved in important initiatives, such as the NCVO's UK Voluntary Sector Almanac and we look forward to announcing our involvement in other important initiatives."

A million charity pages have now been viewed and over 22,000 charities have reviewed and/or augmented information on the site.
