Faith-based organisations feel alienated and excluded by policies and funding arrangements that treat them as separate to the rest of civil society, according to a new report from NCVO. Faith and Voluntary Action found that both secular and faith-based organisations have felt discriminated against when applying for government funding. However, it said that faithbased organisations are viewed by policy-makers as separate rather than ‘distinctive’ and this has caused a lack of collaboration, leading both faith and secular groups to miss out on opportunities ‘by not working together more and sharing experience and expertise’.
