Shaw Trust appoints new interim chief executive

The Shaw Trust has appointed former chief executive of Reed in Partnership, Chris Melvin, as its acting interim chief executive.

During his time at Reed in Partnership, Melvin was responsible for the delivery of £100m in business both nationally and internationally – including welfare-to-work contracts across the UK, and training and apprenticeship programmes for the Skills Funding Agency and founder PublicCo, a joint venture with the Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion.

His appointment follows the departure of its previous chief executive Sally Burton last month.

John Briffitt, chair of trustees at Shaw Trust, said:

“Chris will focus on ensuring that the whole of Shaw Trust and our supply chain partners are fully supporting Work Choice and that our relationships with DWP and Government are enhanced. Shaw Trust is looking forward to working with him on the services that make our organisation so unique, including our web accessibility team, our 43 retail shops, and the variety of social enterprises which make such a difference to local communities.”
