Roger Nightingale is a well known economist and commentator on the global economy, appearing frequently as a guest on TV networks such as CNN, Bloomberg and CNBC. A non-executive director of a number of financial companies, Nightingale is a specialist consultant to a wide variety of fund managers.
In 1988 he set up an independent consultancy, serving investment clients around the world. He is now an active member on the conference circuit, speaking at around 20 to 30 events a year.

The global economy has blown up. Roger Nightingale reviews the immediate likely consequences and possible longer-term results. In the two and a half decades that followed 1980, the world economy seemed to most observers to be making excellent progress. GDP growth was reasonably brisk, and, probably more importantly, recessions were mild or non-existent. Inflation moderated throughout the period and so did unemployment. Asset prices, meanwhile, buoyed by the reality of low interest rates and the expectation of uninterrupted growth, rose quite sharply.
