Nicholas Pearson OBE is head of charity development at Charles Stanley and has over 20 years experience in the charity sector.
In 1987 he created the first ever charity specialist department, and in 1989 he designed and set up two Common Investment Funds in conjunction with the Charities Aid Foundation.
He became a member of the London Stock Exchange some 30 years ago, and has been chairman of the Charity Investors’ Group since 1998.
He was a Council member for the Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind (Sightsavers) for ten years and continues to be a trustee.
In 2002 he was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to the charity sector.
In 2007 the Archbishops’ Council of the Church of England appointed Pearson as a director and trustee of its new investment body, CBF Funds Trustee Ltd.

Nicholas Pearson ponders the pressures on income for charities with investments. The dramatic reduction in the UK interest rates to 1.5 per cent indicates and underlines the gravity of the situation facing the economy. Within the United States recent figures also suggest that it has been in recession for a full year and there is still little sign that the situation is improving. The Federal Reserve has cut interest rates to 0.0-0.25 per cent, which also highlights the seriousness of the problems surrounding financial markets and financial stability around the world.
