'Judge us on our record'

The sector should not forget how far it has come under New Labour, Angela Smith tells Gareth Jones.

As the incumbent minister for the third sector in a government that has held office for the past 13 years, Angela Smith’s role in the run-up to the election differs from her opposite numbers Nick Hurd and Jenny Willott. She acknowledges the difficulties that organisations may have sorting through the promises of the three parties, and attempting to discern whether they will actually happen, so is reluctant to make grand promises of change. Instead, she invites us to simply judge Labour on its record.
