In the UK, official statistics suggest the economy grew 0.4 per cent in the final quarter of 2009, rather than the initial estimate of 0.1 per cent. Business surveys suggest that growth in the first quarter of 2010 was likely to have been at a similar pace to last quarter of 2009, despite January’s bad weather.
